Change is a gift
It is an invitation to see
the world through a different lens.

It nudges us to discover
new ways of looking at things,
to understand them more deeply,
to be more accepting of things
that are different from us
and where we came from,
and to embrace the unfamiliar.

It always takes a trip “home”
for me to realize just how far
I’ve come in life.

How open I’ve become
to the differences that shape us,
even though communication
through spoken language is not always fluent.

Change opens our minds
to great possibilities
because it allows us to find
our commonalities,
not in spite of our differences,
but because of them.

I wish this for all of us,
for it is beautiful, peaceful and powerful.

The world is not simple,
society is not simple,
religion is not simple,
life is not simple,
but it is beautiful.

And that is what I search for,
wherever I go:
